Squid have a mild and slightly sweet flavor, with a firm yet tender texture (when cooked correctly). The tubes, tentacles, and fins can be eaten raw or cooked. We sell both cleaned and uncleaned squid. Available frozen year-round.
The secret to tender squid is to cook it either quickly (a couple minutes) or for around 30 minutes. If you do overcook, keep cooking for 20 minutes and the meat will re-tenderize. Braised or baked squid requires this long cooking technique. Recipe substitutions include monkfish medallions, scallops and Halibut cheeks.
